An interesting story about the Jacaranda trees in Pretoria, South Africa. The original first two trees that were planted in 1888 are still standing!
October in Pretoria means the Jacarandas are out!
Did you know that the first two Jacaranda trees in Pretoria were planted in 1888 by JD Celliers? The surprising fact about these trees is that they are still standing! The original home of JD Celliers was in Sunnyside, Pretoria. Currently, the property is part of the Sunnyside Primary School in Celliers Street, where the trees can still be seen. Blogger Piet van Biljon wrote an interesting article about the Jacarandas in 2013. (Posted by Louise Hamlyn)
